Thanks for checking out the blog. I am Ted Pappas, and I have lived in Clarion since 1972. My wife, Linda is a lifelong resident of Clarion and we proudly raised our children, Chris and Melissa (Lissa to us) in Miola. You have to be from Clarion to know where Miola is.
I started fishing with my father when I was about 4 years old, so I have been at that for about 66 years (yep, that makes me darn near 70, give or take a couple of months). I have hunted these Clarion hills, cursed them and loved them. I have fished, skied and boated the Clarion river. I shot competitive skeet for a couple of years, until I realized I had more fun just shooting with friends and family. I started hunting by chasing rabbits with my father, brother, and a whole series of lovable beagles. I spent 13 years chasing pheasants with my best hunting buddy, NikkiSue, a black lab mix that replaced my son when he went to college. As much as I like archery hunting for deer, I still love a gun hunt. But chasing turkeys and muskies top my list of outdoor activities. Actually the only thing I would rather do than hunt muskies is to hunt muskies with family and friends. I have been building fishing rods since the late 1980’s and while I will build anything, I kind of specialize in muskie rods.
I am at peace with the world when I am on the water, in the woods, or having a craft beer around a campfire with friends. A nice bourbon, like Buffalo Trace, can at times replace that craft beer, but friends and family cannot be replaced. Hopefully, together we can enjoy the hunting, fishing, boating, and hiking that the area around Clarion, 120 miles to be exact, has to offer.
